When will the weekend start?

What a week so far and it is only Wednesday. At least I can say that it is half way over. That makes me happy because I know I have a day off headed my way but it also means that I am closer to my first day at my new job. I signed more paper work today and now have a photo ID, it's official. If I think about it to much I start to freak out a little. So I lose myself in a book to keep those thoughts at bay. Bob keeps telling me how great I will do, here's to hoping that he's right.

No time to hibernate.

Big things have been happening. I finally get to put my degree to work. I got hired for a position at a school, even though it is part time it is still something that could lead to something more. Plus the exprience will do me good and will help with future positions. I start next week. I am nervous as you would probably have guessed. Right now I am trying to get everything filled out and ready. I am busy busy. I am going to try and relax tonight and watch the new episode of Heroes. That show is really great, a close second to my favorite show Pushing Daises.
I hope that once things settle down I will be able to get back to my art. Just have been doing some sketches here and there.
Happy Monday!

DisneyWorld and the Ocean Could it get any Better.

I haven't posted anything lately because I have been out and about. To Florida to be exact seeing the sights and visiting friends. It was my first time seeing the ocean. I loved it. The water was warm and clear and simply amazing. Plus the sand was so white and fine. DisneyWorld was another first for me. I can see why it is called DisneyWorld because it is like a world in and of itself. My favorite attraction was the Haunted Mansion ride, the way the ghosts appeared and disappeared was really awesome. I also rode the Jungle Cruise which was a lot of fun, our boat guide was really funny and talked about a hour a minute. It was really neat seeing Cinderella's Castle up close, I heard that there are secret rooms inside I wonder if that is true. Tomorrow will be some more fun for me as I will be going to a Mae concert. I really like their music and have all their CDs. I am trying to decide if I want to be cheesy and bring one along for them to sign.
Hope you have fun things planned too!

Pushing Daisies has been watched so now on with the night.

Pushing Daisies is my favorite tv show, it even surpasses my ol favorite Grey's Anatomy. The outfits in Pushing Daisies are so fun to look at. Like the nun outfits, are those for real? Do nuns wear habits in that color? Makes me wonder...
After the show I putzed around the web and stopped by Esty. I was looking at my esty shop and released that I need to add some more envelope sets seeing as I only have the one. So hopefully tomorrow or Friday there will be some more sets to tickle your snail mail fancies.

Random thought of the day: "I wish I knew how to do the moon walk."
Happy Wednesday!

Just a Few Things

Tomorrow is the season premire of Grey's Anatomy. Two hours of drama. I don't know if I will be able to survive. Better prepare with some snacks, some popcorn and maybe a soda. Haven't done that for a while. I am most looking forward to Pushing Daisies starting again. That show is so cute and something different for a change. It could also have to do with how adorable I think Lee Pace is who plays the Pie Maker.

Speaking of Lee Pace he has recently been a couple movies that I would recommend watching. My favorite being The Fall and the other Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day.

Another good movie I would recommend is Penelope. I would describe it as a modern fairy tale that is imaginative and fun. One more recommendation this time of the book variety would be Sunday's at Tiffanys. It gives an interesting twist on the love story.

In other news I added another piece to the shop. Another furry friend this one being a tiny little dachshund. I haven't sold anything yet which is a little discouraging but I hope that changes soon.

I finished up work tonight watching Edward Scissorhands always a classic.

"You see, before he came down here, it never snowed. And afterwards, it did. If he weren't up there now... I don't think it would be snowing. Sometimes you can still catch me dancing in it. " -Kim in Edward Scissorhands

Slow and Steady

Today I added another piece to the shop.

It is of regal basset hound who is now looking for a new stately home in which to reside.
More four legged friends to come...

Make it Work.

Project Runway is a show I enjoy watching whenever I get the chance. Not only are some of the outfits and designers totally outrageous, but no other show has the one and only Tim Gunn. ("Don't bore Nina!")
Usually he is a pretty straight faced guy but I saw this picture and it just made me laugh to see such a huge grin on his face.
It is almost impossible to look at it and not smile.
Go ahead give it a try.

I hate to say it...but I told you so...

My name is Steph and I am a magazine addict

Its true, I have always enjoyed reading and gazing at the glossy pages of magazines. So to somewhat justify all the magazines stacked in my home I decided to do a little recycling by making envelopes from the pages.

Today I listed the first set of three made from Juicy Couture ads.
There is more to come so stay tuned.

Nice to Meet You!

I just recently opened my shop on Esty and have been adding some new items. Tomorrow I will be adding a couple more. I really want my shop to take off, because I love creating art and sharing it with others. So with this blog I plan on sharing a little about me and about what I am doing artistically along with anything that inspires me or I just get a kick out of.

So now for a little bit about me...
  • I am the peanut butter girl next door type who married her blonde blue eyed high school sweet heart. (yes that still happens).
  • I went to the local university and double majored in Studio Art with a concentration in painting and also Art Education.
  • Currently I am job searching while working at the local video rental store, if you need any recommendations on movies I am your gal. Or as my shirt puts it I am your "Movie Goddess".
  • I love libraries, books, and reading. It just so happens that I have my library card number memorized ( nerd ).
  • I share my home with my husband and a furry cat named Mr.Yum Yums.
Now a little something about my artwork...

  • My work mainly consists of drawing and painting.
  • My figures for the most part stand alone on the blank canvas. The main characters of some story or film that is yet to be written.
  • The envelopes are made from the magazines that litter my home and often inspire my paintings. When making them I don't have sets in mind I just make a whole bunch, lay them out and see what goes together. (Which is my favorite part.)

There it is folks, I hope that you stop by here and my shop often. Feel free to leaves comments or email me. I would like to get to know other artists like myself.

For now have a great weekend!
